Never, Ever rely on Mother Nature to be dull or predictable. Clients seeing a “Druzy(d)” stone for the first always say “OMG that’s gorgeous, but what is it?” Well, its remarkable, amazing, and drop dead great to look at and wear. Its a process happens to several stones and when it does the stone adds a descriptive additional title – “Druzy!” Which in this case is Onyx.
Druzy is a formation of quartz crystals that because of heat and pressure in the earth have adhered to stones. With Onyx, the crystals glitter in the light alternating between black and clear crystal reflections. Quite a spectacular display put on by the mother of all displayers.
Take a look at the necklace in that section for another spectacular example.
These 1/2″ rounds are a perfect stud size and you get what happens when the Druzy is paired with that other phenomenon – Diamonds. A perfect marriage made possible with terrific 14K Yellow gold-smithing and design.
