Brazilian Amethyst’s deep purple color has always been one of my favorite choices when it comes to these hues. The richness and liveliness always stimulates an inspiration to create something unique and different. Well, here is a pair of earrings that I feel meets that criteria. The hand cutting is even a departure, 8 mm faceted rounds demands everything that follows must be suited to this singular piece. I guess that’s what spurs inspiration on and on.

In ancient times, the legend was that Amethyst prevented intoxication and believers drank their wine from goblets made from this beautiful semiprecious stone. Oh yeah, if only this were true, although I’m sure there are still some practitioners.

Amethyst is February’s Birthstone and South Carolina’s State Stone and makes a terrific birthday gift for that special someone.
